About Me
Isabella De la Mora
Visual artist born and raised in Mexico City, currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
My artistic practice revolves around the profound exploration of the human experience—both as an individual and as a connected being within broader contexts. Through a blend of process, action, expanded drawing, registration, and mixed media, I delve into themes of development, change, interaction, and adaptation. The study of the human, as being, as a body and as an object of connection, its forms and limits. A combination of process, action, and registry, painting, drawing, photography and embroidery and body art.
In my work, I seek to reimagine the established functions of the human body, exploring its corporality and the transient nature of contact. This journey involves a deep inquiry into my own skin condition - dermatographia-, allowing me to turn inward and examine the possibilities that arise from this exploration.
By translating concepts into visual form, I aim to create a dialogue about the body's role in both personal and collective experiences. Through this lens, I invite viewers to reflect on the fluidity of existence and the nuances of our connections, challenging them to reconsider how they perceive and engage with their own bodies and the world around them. It is about the profound exploration of the human experience focusing on growth, change, interaction, and adaptation.
